Wakeup and get to the Pavilion Theatre! This was my Birthday, Saturday 17th June 2017. It was also the Bournemouth Music Competitors Festival and we were about to spend the whole day competing in one of the UK’s oldest home grown Music Festivals. We competed in in many sections, including Traditional Spiritual & Gospels, Choral Music from the Shows, Choral Part Singing (Accompanied) and Choral Sacred Songs. Our Altos also competed as ‘The Hot Flashes’ and performed some boogie-woogie with their own Bugle Boy.
We had a great social day which enabled us to not just perform, but learn how to perform better. The adjudicator was Gaynor Keeble (Mezzo Soprano), who was such a great encouragement to all entrants. We came away at the end of the day with more knowledge, and an average of over 86% in each technical area. A worthwhile day and such great fun, with social times in the cafe and gardens during the breaks.
