Wonderful news! We are able to restart our joyful choir.
Thursday 5th August at our new venue:
Immanuel URC Church, 120 Southbourne Rd, BH6 3QJ
Doors open 6.45. Rehearsal starts 7.00, finishing at 8.30.
We will be at our new premises and also still use our audio and video technology to enable remote attendance on zoom for those who would prefer to continue this.
We will also continue to encourage the regular use of lateral flow tests, mask wearing and social distancing to give confidence to our members who haven’t done much socialising since the pandemic began.
Safety measure for the interim
To be reviewed as required in the light of any further guidance from various safety and choir organisations:
Face coverings will be required for all choir members until seated.
All rehearsal areas will continue the social distancing measures introduced during the pandemic: touchpoint cleaning, minimum of 1 metre and if possible two metre social distancing on entry to the hall and whilst sitting in rehearsal.
No collecting in groups at entry or exit of the rehearsal space.
Taking temperatures on entrance.
Ensuring all members are vaccinated - a minimum of 1 vaccination.
Members to be tested if this becomes necessary.
Members asked not to attend rehearsals if displaying any of the recognised symptoms of Covid.
Music Director will wear a face shield.
It is important that everyone using our rehearsal space at the Immanuel URC in Southbourne has confidence in these arrangements. I know that some of you will feel more comfortable than others as we have had a change of day, venue and safety behaviour. We will be managing all changes in a steady, careful way, with safety at the forefront of our minds at all times. As Music Director and as a Committee member it is our role to support the singing and rehearsing safely – we will have all the appropriate arrangements in place, and they are endorsed by Public Health agencies.
Inevitably, you’ll have many questions and we’ll do our best to respond to them with the information available to us, making use of our existing regular meetings and communication channels to update you whenever we can.
This transition period is one of mixed emotions – hope that it is the sign of things returning to normal, and perhaps some trepidation after so long living with safety measures that have become a routine part of all our lives. It will also be a period of hard work as we all play our part in interpreting the guidance, making changes to our rehearsals and our behaviour, and supporting each other, our Music Director and our committee.
Thank you for your unwavering commitment to keeping Wessex Chorus going and to the effort you have all put – and continue to put – into that endeavour. Blessings and best wishes and look forward to seeing those of you who wish to come to our rehearsals.
